If you want to treat your Mom to something very special on Mother’s Day, Saturday, May 14, why not bring her to our Thai Imperial Duck Banquet?
I must confess, at the beginning, that the recipe for this wonderful duck dish was not mine — at least at the beginning. The story started with a wonderful duck restaurant in Bangkok, a place where people come from far and wide to enjoy duck with friends and family.
The restaurant has been around a long time because the duck is just SO special. And what makes this restaurant so special, you ask? Well, that was what I wanted to know. And it took me a long time to find out.
Actually, I must give my husband, Ry, credit for unlocking the secret ingredient for the duck. Somehow, Ry was able to sniff out what made all the difference. So, at last, I was able to copy the Bangkok duck dish that I loved so much. Not only that, but I could make it much better!
I think of it today as a Thai-West Coast fusion dish because I have added a delicious Blackberry sauce that perfectly complements the flavour of the duck. But that wasn't the secret ingredient because they don't have blackberries in Thailand!
