The entrance to the restaurant promised lots of fun, including the possibility of a hot air balloon ride. Unfortunately, the balloons were not quite real and did not take off into the air.
Hi Everybody,
The nuns in a Thai Temple are a very hard-working group of ladies who do much to keep a temple happy and focused
on the continuing presence of Buddha in the lives of all who come to visit.
Much of their work revolves around the temple kitchen, where they cook breakfast for the monks everyday. After that, they support the monk's chanting in the temple by their quiet presence. They have many other chores, including the necessary laundry duties and keeping the temple grounds clean and tidy.
But they don't get out very much and we thought it was time to give
them a treat with a visit to a famous restaurant in Northern Thailand.
It was quite some distance away from the temple but the daughters of one of the nuns helped to organize the trip and drove us all to the restaurant.
Thai people are famous for their enthusiasm for food. They will do just about anything to enjoy food with friends and family and our trip outside the temple was no exception.
We jammed all of us into a small
compact car with me, two nuns and one daughter in the back of the car. In the front, Ry got lucky, enjoying a seat all to himself next to the daughter who drove the car very skillfully and carefully down a main highway.
The restaurant turned out to be more than 1 hour of driving away, but everyone had lots of fun, laughing and chattering as we roared off down the road. As Ry pointed out, The car seemed to need a tune-up as it lurched forward from time to time down
the road. But this only added to the fun of the journey.
