We discovered our now famous Khao Soi Curried Noodle Soup in a small art gallery in Chiang Mai. There, an elderly lady prepared and served us her version of the soup.

During our last two trips to Thailand we have searched out the best in Thai Street Food. And that is definitely NOT as simple as it seems.

Why? Because there is simply so much Thai Street Food out there that it becomes almost impossible to pick the best. Yes, we could, we could, if we had another three lifetimes!

We do our best, that’s all I can say, and you guys have definitely approved our choices. So, we are hosting our Bangkok Street Food and Chiang Mai Street Food classes during March next year, and already the early classes are starting to fill.

My advice? If you like the idea of Street Food, go for one or the other — or both — ASAP. 

Book now, before our prices go up on January 1, 2026. And that advice goes for all of the classes in our Spring 2026 schedule.

Chiang Mai Street Food

This delicious dish is now one of the most famous in Chiang Mai, a northern Thai city.

To our knowledge, we are the only Thai food businesses on Vancouver Island that has presented this wonderful Thai dish to the public. 

When I started thinking about dedicating a class to the Street Food of Chiang Mai, I only had a fuzzy idea about the dishes I wanted to include. So, on our vacation to Thailand in 2024, we went straight to Chiang Mai and sought out the best we could find.

The best turned out to be a little folk art gallery in Chiang Mai where an elderly lady specialized in cooking and serving Khao Soi. Although I had heard of the dish, I had never actually tried it. But once I did, I was hooked and I knew it deserved a place in the new class.

Legend has it that the original creator of the Khao Soi of Chiang Mai was a Muslim lady. Apparently, she started selling the mild Muslim-style dish more than 40 years ago. It is very different than other Thai dishes. Definitely not as spicy. But very nice, nonetheless.

Bangkok Street Food

The highlight dish for this class are the delicious Golden Cups.

Of course, Bangkok had to be included in any collection of Street Food classes. So, on our last visit to Thailand early this year, we made a point of, once again, finding the best Street Food that we could in the city. Surprisingly, we found that many former street food vendors were now being collected in massive Street Food Fairs throughout Bangkok. It was there that we found most of the recipes included in our Bangkok Street Food class.

Learn the secrets of the resort town of Pattaya

Pattaya has been for many years one of the most popular tourist hot-spots in Thailand.

It's true. Pattaya is mainly a tourist destination and it is much changed since me and my friends used to visit back in the 1980's. Then, it was only a little village on the beach, near Bangkok, with thatched beach-huts and roaming food-sellers. Today, it is very different but is also famous for many amazing food dishes that I want to find!

Private Class dates for Holiday Season are running down

Yes, 2025 seems to be winding down very quickly! Or maybe that’s just because we shall be leaving for Thailand on December 25 and you will not see us again until the following year!

In any case, we shall be hosting private classes during the Holiday Season until December 20. That means from tomorrow, December 6 until December 20. There are 14 days in that period of time and we have already booked five private classes. Already booked are: December 6, 8, 10, 16 and 20.

This leaves only 11 dates still available. So, if having a private class is something you would like to enjoy, please act ASAP.
