Hi Everybody,
My husband, Ry, and I visited a lot of places in Bangkok to research street food.
In fact, the search lasted over two years, from 2024 to 2025. In the first year, we searched the streets in downtown Bangkok and in 2025 we visited a vast Food Fair in the city.
From those visits and conversations with my friends and family in Thailand, other friends in
Canada, and taste-testing by my “Dream Team” volunteers in North Saanich, I finally had everything I needed to put a new class together. All in all, it was a fair amount of work!
I am deeply grateful, therefore, that so many of those who attended the “Premier” of my class last Sunday thoroughly enjoyed the food and the good company that came with it.
It follows my “Chiang Mai Street Food” class that I introduced about two years ago. This class has consistently attracted
students and packed classes and will continue to do so this year. On Sunday, I will again host this class and, again, the class will be fully booked.
Next year, I hope to research another street food location, Pattaya, the famous beach bar and entertainment center just south of Bangkok. Hopefully, I will be able to offer a “Pattaya Street Food” class sometime in 2026.
Anyway, I didn’t want to end without a little story about one of the most popular items on the
“Bangkok Street Food” menu. It was the “Coconut Featherballs.” People just loved these little dessert treats, made from delicious ingredients you will only learn if you come to the class! Needless to say, coconut flakes play a major part!
I just learned that a couple of my students now plan to make Featherballs for Christmas, colored green and red. Thumbs up for them!
Anyway, I found these treats at the Food Fair we attended this year and I was
delighted!
