KALLAYANEE'S KITCHEN: Tastes from the South of Thailand

Tastes from the South of Thailand
Many Canadians think there is only one Thai Food, that everyone in Thailand eats just about the same thing that people in Canada call “Thai Food.”

Not so! There are HUGE differences in all the regional areas of Thailand. We had our own specialties where I grew up in the Northeast of Thailand. But only a few miles away, in another province, people enjoyed quite different delicacies, even though we all lived in “The North” of Thailand.

However, these differences were as nothing compared with the flavours I experienced on my first trip to the South of Thailand! Their food is so much different than our northern cuisine. They eat much hotter curries and spices, with many more varieties. And more people include beef in their diet.

That’s why, if you LOVE hot and spicy foods, you’re sure to enjoy my class next Tuesday, November 1, “Tastes from the South of Thailand.” I’ve included five of my favourite dishes, discovered during my many later visits to the South. And if you're a little nervous about HOT, don't worry, we can tune it down!
Thai Beef Salad with Grapes is featured at Tuesday’s class.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. the class features my famous Beef Salad with Grapes, made with top-quality sirloin steak, grapes and Thai spices, one of my all-time favourites of the dishes I found in Thailand’s South. But there’s lots more! Click here to view the full menu.
