Hi Everybody,
Every region of Thailand has its own special tastes and flavours — and southern Thailand is no different. One of the major differences is the type and HEAT of the spices used in cooking. Generally speaking, the food is much hotter in the south than in other Thai regions.
One of the other major differences is the prevalence of beef. Thais in other parts of the country eat very little beef and the cuisine is dominated by pork, chicken and seafood. But in the south beef is very popular.
My husband and I took a tour of the south once and stopped in many wonderful small towns where we were able to sample this wonderful regional food. In one restaurant, we ordered the owner's specialty beef dish, Beef Salad with Grapes. It was wonderful and I was determined to do my best to copy the recipe when I returned home.
And so, on Tuesday, the feature item on Tuesday's menu is that special dish we enjoyed so much many years ago — and I truly believe my version is even better!
