Hi everybody,
Next Tuesday is my last public class of the 2019 Fall Season.
I'm always a little sad when my seasons come to an end, so I try to end them with something special, my Floating Market Flavours class.
This class is named in honour of the floating markets that you can find in various locations around Bangkok. The one pictured above is from the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, in the Ratchaburi District of Bangkok, just in case you ever visit someday!
The floating markets evolved in Bangkok when the city was dependent on a complex network of canals, before roads and freeways took over the city. And it was there, along the canals, that these markets most naturally developed.
As you take a tour in your own canal boat, you can find just about anything you want at these floating markets, from tourist items to food. And you can purchase what you want from the little boats that cruise alongside you down the canals, or from canal-side stores along your way.
Here are some of the delicious treats that I discovered during our last visit!
