The Corona Virus has shut down our Spring Season

My faithful sous-chef Uta and I will miss all of your for a little while. But we'll be back!

Hi Everybody,

This is a very sad time for all of us. It is the first time we have ever had to shut down our classes. But we realize that people all over the world are suffering at this time and we can only hope that the pandemic will end as quickly as possible.

We realize many of you may be concerned about the payments you made to either ourselves or to the Panorama Recreation Centre to book classes this spring. Here is the latest information for you.

If you booked with Panorama: A refund is coming

Yesterday, the Panorama Recreation Centre sent out an email notifying everyone that they have shut down the entire centre.

The email stated: “Programs scheduled during the closure will be cancelled and a prorated refund will be provided. We ask for your patience as these are processed.”

You may be puzzled by the definition of “prorated" for a refund. Below is a definition I found on the web.

“It is a partial refund based on the proportion of the product or service used. For example, if you pay in advance for a 1-year membership or subscription but decide to cancel at the end of 6 months, a prorated refund is half the annual fee.”

As all classes for this spring have been cancelled, we assume that you will receive a full refund for any classes you booked through the Panorama Recreation Centre.

We also assume that you will not experience any difficulty receiving your refund through them. But please let us know if you do.

If you booked with us: Refund or Gift Certificate?

At this time, we are sending out refunds via Interac E-Transfers. This is by far the best method during this time as it is totally safe, without the need to take paper cheques to the bank.

Otherwise, we are also asking if people would accept gift certificates from us, in place of refunds. The loss of our business income will hit us hard and a gift certificate will help us to ride out the next few months of zero business income. Also, our gift certificates are redeemable at any time, for so long as we are in business — and we hope to resume business as soon as this crisis ends.

However, we can understand if people would prefer refunds, so we will process one for you immediately if that is your wish.

We will try to keep in touch with all of you during this crisis. Hopefully, we'll be able to send out newsletters from time to time

In the meantime, stay close to family, try to stay cheerful, and do everything that you can to stay healthy, following all of the recommended health precautions.

We look forward very much to seeing you all again in future, when all of this has become a distant memory.
