A Fall Public Season Now Seems a Likely Possibility!

Uta and I are looking forward very much to hosting you again this Fall!
Hi everybody,
I am very pleased to report that we are working with our sponsor, the Panorama Recreation Centre, for a possible safe opening of public classes this Fall. We hope to reach an agreement on measures that should be taken for our classes to meet health guidelines for those in the food services industry and those they serve.
Below are some of the measures we are considering:
The maximum class size would be eight people. As we have two large dining tables, we will be able to meet social distancing needs by seating only four people per table. Our minimum class size will be six people, with even more room for social distancing.
We also plan to limit the numbers of people gathered around our preparation table for food cooking demonstrations to a maximum of four at a time, which might mean shifts. For hands-on cooking demonstrations, we will add another food preparation table to ensure appropriate social distancing.
New Procedures to Meet Safety Requirements

1. After you book a class with us or with Panorama Recreation Centre, you will receive by return email a checklist asking you to ensure that you are healthy at the time you receive the email.
2. When you arrive at our house for a class, we will ask you once again to double-check the same list to ensure that nothing has changed since you booked a class with us. If you are doubtful about entering the house after checking the list, we shall arrange for an immediate refund.
3. After entering you will be asked to clean and disinfect your hands in our bathroom, which is down the hall and to the right of the corridor.
Our classes have always included the time after lessons end when we all sit down and enjoy the food we have helped to prepare and cook. As we intend to continue this tradition, it seems to make little sense to make the wearing of masks compulsory.
However, if you are comfortable using a mask, we urge you to continue using it during the class when it is convenient for you to do so.

I guess that’s about it for now. We’ll keep in touch as this moves forward.
In the meantime, we are still hosting PRIVATE CLASSES during this time with similar provisions for safety, when required.
